Pet Policy
Pet Agreement & Visitor Guide
We’re so excited to host you and your furry friend(s)! Before your stay, please read through our pet policy, agree to our pet rules, and understand the risks associated with bringing your pet.
Pet Fees
Pet Fee: $20 per dog per night. After the first 3 nights, they stay for free!
It’s your responsibility to ensure you reserve a pet-friendly at the time of booking. Discovery of a pet in a non-pet-friendly room (or in another room without approval) will result in a charge to the card on file to cover the cost of additional cleaning.
Undisclosed pets are subject to an immediate $250 charge to the guest’s card on file (plus the standard pet fee).
Damages and messes: Pet-related messes or damages to guestrooms, furnishings, or the property are the guest’s sole responsibility. Damage or excess cleaning fees are used to compensate our cleaning crews and replace damaged items directly. Inspections will be completed upon check-out; charge amounts vary by situation, but in general, you can expect:
Pet waste stains or pet waste left in the room or outside: $100-$250
Excessive cleaning (fur on furniture/failure to use pet blankets, etc): $50-$100
Damage to furniture or property, pest fumigation, etc: Dependent on the cost of repairs or replacement
Pets We Welcome
In pet-friendly units only, we welcome well-mannered dogs traveling with their recognized owners (currently, cats, birds, and other animals are not permitted except with special permission).
We reserve the right to require immediate removal of any pet that displays dangerous, disruptive, or unacceptable behavior, including but not limited to aggression, biting, excessive noise (such as barking or crying), and evidence of disease, as well as guests who fail to follow policies including but not limited to leashing and waste removal. Each guest is responsible for all charges that relate to the removal of a disruptive pet, including but not limited to transportation, kennel charges, and non-refunded nights if a guest chooses to leave with their pet after an incident.
Pet Rules
Two dogs maximum per unit unless approved. Guests must disclose each pet in advance of the stay.
Pets must be leashed (max 6-foot) or contained in a carrier at all times when outside of your room to prevent disturbances or dangerous run-ins with wildlife, neighbors, plants and fungi, guests and their pets, traffic, or other potential risks in our wilderness settings. Supervise your pets at all times, and remain on communal areas and sidewalks/driveways during walks.
Pest control stations: Please note that we have professionally serviced pest bait stations located around the property exteriors as a precaution against Hantavirus and other harmful rodent-borne diseases. These stations are child- and pet-resistant, but please ensure your pets are leashed and supervised around bait stations to prevent tampering or ingestion. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.
Pet waste must be bagged and thrown into our dumpster. You can find baggie stations mounted around the property.
Pets must remain in their approved unit. Bringing pets into other guestrooms without approval may result in additional charges.
Health and vaccinations: Pets must be flea- and tick-free and up-to-date on all appropriate vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP/DHPP, and Bordetella. Please check your dog for ticks every time they re-enter your room, as they’re common in our area and present health risks to humans and pets.
Pets must be fully housebroken, with no recent history of accidents.
Pets are not to be left unattended in your room. We may make exceptions for well-behaved, quiet, calm, kenneled dogs for shorter periods; please get in touch with us for approval ahead of time, and we’ll discuss your circumstance, contact method, and your pet’s demeanor. Unapproved, unattended pets are subject to additional charges or may be asked to leave. We’re happy to recommend doggie day camps or other kenneling services in town!
If your pet tends to be noisy, please leave them at home. It’s a balancing act to make sure everyone has a happy, relaxing vacation, so after a second noise complaint, you will be asked to find alternative arrangements.
We have a zero-tolerance policy for pet aggression or disturbances. We do not allow pets with aggressive, unpredictable, violent, or otherwise problematic behavior on our premises at any time. To ensure everyone has a safe, peaceful stay, guests with pets that disturb other guests, pets, employees, vendors, or wildlife will be asked to find alternative boarding and/or leave the property early with no refund.
Please keep pets off of furniture, including sofas, chairs, and beds. We know that can be tough, so if they demand snuggles, make sure they’re clean, supervised and calm, and use our pet blankets as a barrier. Pet blankets can be found in your room, in our self-serve room, or upon request. Fur, dirt, or other damages/messes on furniture will incur an additional charge.
*Please note that these rules apply to pets and emotional support animals (ESAs) on our properties.
Risks & Liabilities
Traveling with your pet comes with risks. Our property is located in a wilderness setting with rugged terrain, wildlife, other pets, inclement weather, pet-resistant rodent bait stations, and other risks. All guests must understand and acknowledge that they are voluntarily accessing the property and participating in the activities with knowledge of the danger involved, and agree to accept and assume any and all risks of injury, death, disability, and/or property damage arising therefrom.
Guests are liable for their own pet(s) should there be any claim, and must release all claims against and hold harmless the Owner, employees, and assigns against any losses, damages, liabilities, deficiencies, claims, actions, judgments, settlements, interest, awards, penalties, fines, costs, or expenses of whatever kind. The property and Field Guide, LLC assume no liability related to any use of its property for any recreational activities.
